July 2018 Updates & Fixes Launched on August 5, 2018
And just like that, summer has flown by once again. With school being around the corner, I am excited to have 2.1 updates in and ready to go! I took most of June and July working closely with a large music studio (400+ students!) and studying up on what it took to manage such a heavy load of classes and lessons. A few issues at hand were managing the day-to-day scheduling changes, such as dropped lessons, adding make-ups classes, changing a student’s lesson day and time, and adding substitute teachers. With the things changing so quickly, we needed to develop a few features that were simple to use and could handle the fast turn arounds. Working with the two office assistants, we put our heads together, and were able come up with following 2.1 updates. Special thanks to them and the owners for their feedback and patience! As always, I am grateful for Amazech and their timeliness on getting these newest updates released before August. Amazing work as always! Schedule & Course Page Load Time We took some time to enhance the overall speed and load time of both the schedule and course page. With larger studios, this load time was taking about 2–3 minutes… yikes! Updated Course Status Change Feature While we had a feature in place to reschedule, cancel, and add make-ups for an entire course, we faced a few bugs and needed a little more flexibility. We cleaned up our course status change feature for these three items and gave users more options. Not only is it much cleaner and simpler to navigate through, it’s also been made mobile friendly! Adding Substitute Teachers We took are current subbing feature and adjusted the order of each instructors’ lessons by date/time order, instead of alphabetically. Hopefully this saves admin some time when adjusting an instructor’s schedule who is out for the day! Mobile View Update for Instructors We took some time to update the mobile view for instructors. The final update included the attendance marking and rescheduling feature. This means you can now mark attendance or reschedule/cancel a lesson directly from your mobile device! Additional Updates Changed instructor course menu title from ‘Instructor Course’ to ‘Course’ Gave staff members the ability to add substitute teachers and change course status Add an optional restriction for instructors to reschedule or cancel individual sessions Fixed bugs and errors We will be spending this week wrapping up the changes and fixing bugs that occurred along the way. This past round was a big step; however, this next round of 2.2 updates will be an even BIGGER step. Stay tuned! Our planned release date is the end of August and mid-September of 2018.
